A dental crown is a tooth-shaped “cap” that is placed over a tooth to restore its shape, size, strength, and to improve its appearance.

A crown can restore a broken tooth or a tooth that has been severely worn down. It can hold together parts of a cracked tooth or cover misshaped/discoloured teeth. Frequently we will recommend a crown if you have required a root canal treatment as it can be the best way to protect the tooth.

The crown will look just like the original tooth which has been damaged, and we do this by taking an impression and sending it to the laboratory to be made. In high demanding cases we may send you to our Technician so that he can match the exact shade and shape of your teeth. When you come back to the Practice to have it fitted we cement the crown in place and make sure the fit and shade are perfect and the bite just right.

At Penryn Dental Practice we are trained to the highest standards at preparing and fitting crowns and work very closely with local Technicians to ensure our Patients get the individual attention that high quality crowns require.

The reception staff particularly Kim are polite and helpful . The hygienist is thorough and also at pains to educate the patient in the importance of mouth hygiene.
