Dental Bridges

If you have experienced tooth loss, you can still smile with confidence and enjoy your favourite foods, thanks to the range of tooth replacement treatments available at our Penryn practice. One option is a dental bridge – an artificial tooth which is used to fill a gap from a missing tooth.

Unlike traditional removable dentures, a dental bridge is a permanent fixture as it is anchored to the teeth at one, or both, sides of the gap. Although we would recommend a dental implant as the most effective solution for a gap in the teeth, this is not always clinically suitable.

The different kinds of bridge include a fixed bridge, which looks like a strip of three teeth. The ‘teeth’ on either end are effectively dental crowns which cover the teeth on either side of the gap, with the ‘middle tooth’ filling the gap in-between them. Another type is known as a cantilever bridge, which is very similar to a fixed bridge, however it is only secured on one end.

For a dental bridge there will be a number of trips to the practice required so we can take an impression of your teeth and have the bridge unit created by the dental laboratory. We will also ensure you understand all your choices and answer any questions you may have to help you decide the best treatment for you.

This is a wonderful practice with a calm professional atmosphere- well worth the long journey to Cornwall for treatment with confidence.
