If you have experienced a cracked, broken or worn down tooth, or you have teeth that are misshapen or discoloured, a dental crown could be the perfect solution to help restore your smile and confidence.
A dental crown is a custom-made, tooth-shaped “cap” that is placed over a tooth to restore its shape, size, strength, and to improve its appearance. Frequently we will recommend a crown if you have undergone a root canal treatment, as it can be the best way to protect the treated tooth.
The specialist team of dentists here at Penryn Dental Practice are incredibly experienced when it comes to preparing and fitting dental crowns, to ensure a comfortable, natural result. If you’re considering a dental crown, we’ll take the time to fully assess your suitability, explain the process and answer your questions so you can make an informed decision.
If you decide to go ahead, we will take a 3D scan of the tooth to be crowned, which will then be sent to a local dental technician who will create your bespoke crown to perfectly match your smile. In some cases patients may need to visit the technician to check the colour and shape.
When the technician has finished, you’ll return to the practice where we will cement the crown in place and make sure the fit and shade are perfect and the bite just right. You’ll then be able to eat, talk and smile with confidence once more.
