We understand that losing a tooth, or several teeth, can be a worrying and upsetting experience. The good news is that there is a wonderful advanced treatment available in the form of dental implants, which can help restore your smile, confidence and ability to enjoy your favourite foods.
A dental implant is an artificial tooth root made of titanium that is gently placed into the space where a tooth used to be. An artificial tooth or teeth are then individually made to fit your mouth in colour, shape and size, and securely attached to the ‘root’. This creates an incredibly strong, natural looking way to replace missing teeth – in fact many patients report that they forget they even lost teeth in the first place!
Dental implants can be used to
- Replace one or more teeth without affecting bordering teeth.
- Support a bridge and eliminate the need for a denture.
- Provide support for a denture, making it more secure and comfortable.
Patients considering dental implants in Cornwall can enjoy complete peace of mind that they are in the very best hands at our Penryn practice. Dentists Donal O’Halloran and Sean O’Conaill have undergone extensive postgraduate training in placing and restoring dental implants, and have successfully fitted implants for many happy patients over many years.
We will always ensure you have plenty of time to ask questions, discuss your wishes and make an informed, balanced decision about whether dental implants are the right option for you.
Before starting any implant treatment a thorough examination of your mouth will be carried out, taking appropriate x-rays and scans, to see if you are suitable for implant treatment. Not everybody will be, as it can be dependent on the condition of the bone in the area of the planned implants. On the rare occasion there is not enough bone, or it is not healthy enough, treatment may not be able to proceed without an additional procedure such as bone grafting, which can also be carried out at the Penryn Dental Practice.

We are delighted and comfortable with the practice. As a retired couple who have recently come to live in Mylor we have made an excellent choice. The practise is very professional, modern and stylish.
